AFTERTASTE

To the teacup of life,
You added three teaspoonfuls,
Of your sugar like smile,
And made the morning wait for a while.

On the platter of thoughts,
You served handfuls of hope,
Garnished with your trust,
And made the delicious breakfast of joy.

In the bowl of conversations,
You stewed your bountiful memories,
To make it taste spicier,
And made the lunch memorable with emotions.

On the saucer of a lazy siesta,
You spread the butter of excitement,
Making it melt with the warmth of your feelings,
And made the snack of tastiest delight to linger longer.

In the dining plate of life,
You generously doled out,
The pickle of your playful side,
And made the night travel to its dreamiest side.

DANCING WITH CRIMINALS

It was an invitation of temptation
To become what they were
Little bit of brigands
Whole lot of tormentors
With no dreams to chase
Lost in the haze of heinous crimes
Their homes were havens of blood bathed times

It was a journey of discovery
To explore what they possessed
A treasure of weapons
A fixed deposit of ill desires
Everyone chose the path to conspire
Damaging everything that came their way
To the dance of death they loved to sway

It was an enigma of horrendous clues
To opine on their views
Shoot on sight
Killing anyone is alright
Fearless in their pursuit of power
They neither repented nor longed to care
Bloodshot eyes kept evading emotional tears

It was a gory glory of being lawless
To no deeds of theirs did they ever confess
Living for a day
Dying another day
They doused homes of rich and poor people
Hid in stolen blankets they carried guns and sickles
Shedding blood and mashing human flesh like pickles

It was tough to resist the temptation
To let the mind succumb to criminalization
Every day seemed like night
Every moment of being alive shuddered in fright
Nothing could have been so gravely scary
In pursuit of freedom the mind grew wary
Finally the inner self escaped in a scurry

MY INSTINCT IS MY CONTENDER

I am extremely impossible
When moments arrive of being possible

I choose to remain speechless
When my speech is in need of urgent stress

I am extremely intolerant
When circumstances demand me to be tolerant

I choose to remain rugged
When my demeanor is supposed to be managed

I am extremely bitter
When taste of conversations can be sweeter

I choose to misjudge myself
When my judgment defaults my own self

I am extremely volatile
When situations are to be kept docile

I choose to stay indifferent
When my conscience too prompts me to be different

NO COMEBACKS

The birds which had left their homes,
Lost their way back to those homes,
Their free wings were left tattered,
Melody of their chirping had shattered.

Captured by the cruelty of mankind,
Shot at by the insanity of evil mind,
Freedom of these birds were put to an end,
Broken where their legs with no one to tend.

Losing out to the brutality of extreme greed,
Trying to rebel in vain over inhuman deed,
The birds are still trying to go back but bleeding,
At the world’s core humans are busy killing.

The birds remind us of our survival and sense,
Their plight makes us recollect our loss of innocence,
Bleeding we too are in agony of being misdealt,
Our cries are yet to be heard but will never be felt.

YOU, ME AND US

Life was once so beautiful,
Sorrows had no space to sway,
But then times changed,
And everything moved away.

Tears of joy dried out unannounced,
Painful feelings had made their way,
I remember to have mourned aloud,
The lone moments of night and day.

Everything bright had turned pale,
Unsure and hurt I walked confused all the way,
Not a single memory was left to be rejoiced,
Even closer relationships had drifted away.

It was during one of those cold Decembers,
A smile arrived like a breeze my way,
Every dark moment of untruth and disgrace had withered,
Paving the arrival of love in the sweetest way.

Gently comforting and caressing me in immense pain,
You had never expressed what you conveyed that day,
Inspiring me to look at life again,
You inspired me to challenge every difficult day.

And then on a very special occasion,
On a brightly lit full of joy Friday,
You held my hand and looked into my eyes,
Showing me hope and pointing me the way.

Surrounded by the harmony of love,
Together we chose to sail away,
No more could the lone moments be seen again,
I love becoming YOU, ME and US in a love filled way.

AGAIN...

In a robust mood to rebel again,
In no mood to be caught up in juxtaposition,
I being called sane insane…

Having lived by the might of pen,
Having accustomed the mind to pain,
I am set to begin again…

Challenging it seems to sustain,
Challenging my vision repeatedly to refrain,
I wish to romance the pen again…

Years have come and gone in vain,
Years have teased me of being inane,
I am zero thrilled to just idly remain…

Holding a sphere of ideas in my hands again,
Holding my head high in the crowd again,
I am all set to write for my right again…

FOR YOU MY MOTHER

For all the nine months,
you kept me alive in your womb.

For all the late nights,
you remained awake to see me sleep.

For all the birthdays,
you arrived early with gifts aplenty.

For all the happiness,
you brought to me with a smile.

For all the hardships,
you braved to make my life easy.

For all the tears,
you cleansed with your barren hands.

For all the achievements,
you cheered with a joy filled heart.

For all the silence,
you maintained over my frustrations.

For all the pain,
you went through to heal me.

For all the books,
you made me read to become a writer.

For all the food,
you made me fall in love with eternally.

For all the clothes,
you shopped for to make me look smart.

For all the feelings,
you shared to add strength to my emotions.

For all the pardons,
you granted to my mischievous antics.

For all the love,
you still continue to shower on me.

For all the innocence,
you practice in never being harsh on me.

I will remain the son that I am.
I shall try to be the good son you dreamt of.
